Quick animation of Frederick Sandys' painting - Love’s Shadow (1867)
A Pre-Raphaelite portrayal of love's destructiveness. The painter depicts a scowling woman (modeled after his wife) in a distressed state, biting at the stems of flowers. She is shown to be holding a handful of flowers, among which are blue violets, symbols for fidelity in Victorian times, and possibly heliotrope, a symbol of eternal love.
